Description
A barn, dating from the late 18th or early 19th century, stands freely to the north-east of West View farmhouse. The barn is constructed of regularly-laid rubble stone with cornerstones. It has a roof of graduated slate tiles with stone copings and kneelers. A large wagon door is centrally placed, flanked by single byre doors on either side. Each doorway has a segmental head, with decorative stones (impost) and projecting keystones. The individual stones (voussoirs) of the byre door arches are marked with small Roman numerals. There is a loft access point on the left side, and a smaller wagon door on the right side, above which is a fixed window with glazing bars. Steps lead to a second loft door located next to the smaller wagon door.
