Description
Nos. 63, 65, and 67 Duke Street are shops with offices above, built around 1865 and later altered. The buildings are constructed of painted brick with ashlar dressings and feature slate roofs. They rise three storeys high and have a symmetrical arrangement of windows on the first floor, with two sets of two windows for each unit. The shop fronts were updated in the 20th century.
On the first floor, there is a sill band leading to shouldered and eaved architraves with segmentally-arched heads and raised keystones. The windows include 4-pane sashes for No. 63, altered 4-pane sashes for No. 65, and casements for No. 67. The second floor has a sill band on shaped blocks, although No. 63 lacks this feature. The window openings on this floor are recessed and square-headed, with plain sashes for No. 63, 4-pane sashes for No. 65, and casements for No. 67. The buildings are topped with a dentilled eaves cornice. There are brick stacks with blue brick bands to the left of No. 63 and on the party wall between Nos. 65 and 67, with the latter featuring a dentilled top.
