Description

A farmhouse and barns, dating from 1714 with early 19th-century additions. The building is constructed of mixed red and grey sandstone rubble with V-jointed quoins, and has an eaves cornice under a graduated greenslate roof with coped gables and kneelers. Banded stone chimney stacks are also present. The original farmhouse was three bays wide (though it was formerly five bays) and has two storeys. A 20th-century door is located in the centre, set within a painted stone surround. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within painted stone architraves. Some upper-floor windows are blocked, and there are blocked firewindows at the ends of the building. The barns have one stone-surround opening and one 20th-century opening. The farmhouse has a rear outshut, and the barn has a rear plank door. The date "R&BH 1714" is inscribed above the entrance.
