Description
No. 1 The Green is a cottage that was enlarged into a small house in 1666. The back door features a segmentally-arched head and a lintel that is dated. There are later additions to the rear, as well as an adjoining house. The building has rubble walls covered with pebble-dash and a graduated slate roof with brick end chimneys. It is two storeys high and has three symmetrical bays. There is a single sash window on either side of a part-glazed door, which is sheltered by a glazed, 20th-century flat-roofed porch. Above the porch, there is a square panel with a Latin inscription. On the first floor, there are three sash windows. During work to replace the render in the 20th century, some blocked 17th-century window openings with semicircular heads were discovered.
