Description
Espland House is a farmhouse dated 1731, with the initials EMW inscribed on it, and features a 19th-century extension. The original structure has roughcast walls and a Welsh slate roof. The extension is made of coursed red sandstone rubble, with V-jointed quoins, and also has a Welsh slate roof, which includes a banded red sandstone gable and chimney stacks. The building is two storeys tall and has two bays, although it was probably originally three bays, with a higher right extension that has three bays. The original house features a 20th-century door set within an 18th-century doorway that has a dated lintel, along with two-light chamfered stone-mullioned windows. The extension includes a 20th-century door and sash windows with glazing bars, all framed in raised stone surrounds. The adjoining left barns and pent extension that cover part of the front of the older house are not of interest.
