Description

Linton Gill Farmhouse, along with the adjoining dairy and barn, is a private house that dates back to the late 17th century. It has alterations marked by the inscription "J & JW 1725" above the entrance to the dairy. The building features red sandstone rubble walls and a Welsh slate roof, with the bottom courses made of sandstone slates and brick chimney stacks.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and has three bays, with a single-bay dairy, which was probably originally a byre, under a common roof, and a lower barn to the left. There is a 20th-century door set in a rebuilt alternate-block surround. The ground floor has two-light stone-mullioned windows with chamfered edges, while the upper floor features 20th-century casement windows in original small chamfered surrounds. The dairy has a plank door in an alternate-block surround beneath the dated lintel, with a 20th-century casement window to the left. The barn includes a large plank-door cart entrance.

Inside the house, there is a beamed ceiling on the ground floor, an inglenook with a heck partition, and a recess for a salt cupboard. The upper-floor trusses have had their tie beams cut and removed.
