Description
The stable range opposite Southwaite Hill, dating from the early 19th century, is now used as garages. It features cement rendered walls beneath a graduated greenslate roof that is hipped in the center, along with a brick chimney stack. The building has a central tower with lower flanking wings and rear extensions, creating an overall U-shape. There is a large segmental-headed carriage archway in a quoined surround, which is situated beneath a sash window with glazing bars in a painted stone surround, and there are two small attic openings.
On the left flanking wing, there is a doorway with a quoined surround beneath a round opening, as well as a stone-surround window. The right wing contains large 20th-century plank garage doors, one of which is set within a segmental quoined surround. The left door is located beneath a round opening, with a sash window in a stone surround positioned between the doorways. This stable range has group value with Southwaite Hill and Moorhouse Hill.
