Description

The entrance arch, front wall of the courtyard, and dovecote located to the southeast of Acorn Bank House date from the late 18th century to early 19th century. They are all made of ashlar stone. The central archway features an open pediment, with a semicircular arch-head supported by rusticated piers that have impost blocks. On either side of the arch, there is a single trompe l'oeil window on each floor of the walls, which are set back, and the structure has moulded coping.

At the eastern end, the dovecote is square in plan and has two storeys, with a sill band and moulded eaves. It is topped with a pyramidal, graduated slate roof that includes a central wooden clock turret adorned with corner balusters and a wrought-iron weather vane. The south face of the dovecote features jambs of a Venetian window that are supported by Tuscan columns. Additionally, there are two small dovecote openings located under the eaves on the north side.
