Description
Bainbridge Gate and the adjoining barn are a farmhouse and barn built in the late 17th century, with alterations dated 1709 on the front wall. The farmhouse features whitewashed rendered walls beneath a graduated greenslate roof, with an extension that has a Welsh slate roof. The rebuilt chimney stacks are made of red sandstone. The barn is constructed from a mix of sandstone and limestone rubble, also topped with a graduated greenslate roof. The structure is two storeys high and consists of four bays, with a left extension and a long barn on the right, all under a common roof. There is a 20th-century door located on the cross passage between the barn and the house. The upper floor has original windows with four and five lights, while the ground floor features casement windows that are all in enlarged surrounds. The barn includes a central plank door set under a wooden lintel.
