Description
The Lodge, located south-east of Brackenburgh, was built between 1902 and 1903 by Sir Robert Lorimer for Joseph Harris. The building features red and cream Lazonby sandstone walls and is topped with a graduated greenslate mansard roof, which has a conical shape over the right wing. It stands two storeys high and has one main bay with lower single-bay wings on either side. The central section includes sash and casement windows with glazing bars set in plain reveals. The right wing features a plank door in a plain opening, which is adorned with a crested coat-of-arms. The left wing has segmental-arched sash windows, also with glazing bars. The design of The Lodge is similar to other lodges that Lorimer constructed for his houses in Scotland.
