Description

This is a house, likely dating to the late 17th century, located in Kirkbride. The exterior is painted render over full-height clay walls, with a Welsh slate roof and bottom courses of sandstone slates. Brick chimney stacks are also present. The house is low-built, extending two storeys with four bays. A 20th-century door is set within a painted stone surround. The house has 19th-century casement windows with glazing bars; each window has one pane that opens, all within painted stone surrounds. A sash window is located to the right of the entrance. The upper-floor windows are positioned under the eaves. A corresponding rear entrance and passage suggest the original design was a cross-passage house, with what was formerly a byre on the right side, now incorporated into the house. An adjoining shop is not considered to be of architectural interest.
