Description
The Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the 19th century. It features whitewashed clay walls that have been repaired with sandstone, along with a sandstone extension. The roof is made of corrugated iron, although it was originally thatched, and there is a Welsh slate roof on the right side. The building has brick and rendered chimney stacks. It was likely originally designed as a long house, consisting of a single storey with an attic on the left and a steeply pitched roof. The right side has two storeys and two bays, which were probably part of a common roof that was raised in height during the 19th century. The front includes a plank door set in a painted stone surround, with a small attic window above it, and a 2-pane sash window to the left, also in a painted stone surround. There is a kitchen outshut to the right featuring a 20th-century casement window. At the rear, there are 2-pane and casement windows set in 19th-century painted stone surrounds. A garage extension on the left is not of interest.
