Description
Park Farm Cottage and the adjoining barn, dated 1805, were originally two cottages that have been converted into a single dwelling with a barn. The building features Flemish bond brickwork set on a cobble and sandstone plinth, with stone dressings and a slate roof. The structure has two storeys and three bays on each side, all under a common roof. The barn is attached at a right angle to the right of the cottage.
The house on the left has a plank door framed by a plain pointed stone surround. It has 2-pane sash windows with painted stone sills and stone lintels that feature pronounced false keystones. Above the entrance, there is a false window with painted glazing bars. A central flattened segmental arch, which has a dated keystone and a painted quoined surround, provides access to the farmyard.
The former house on the right, now part of the barn, shares similar architectural details with the house on the left, although its windows have been blocked and are partly obstructed. The barn extends in an L-shape and includes a large projecting cart entrance, with a plank door to the right. There are hooks set into the stone wall for hanging harnesses. This building is included partly for its group value with Park Farmhouse.
