Description

The wall and gate piers to the south of Holme Eden Abbey were built in 1837, likely designed by John Dobson for Peter Dixon. The gate piers are made of red sandstone ashlar and stand approximately 2 metres high, featuring a Tudor style with two octagonal columns topped by moulded and carved octagonal castellated heads. The adjoining wall is about 1½ metres high and has moulded coping stones, creating a screen on either side of the piers. This structure is listed for its group value with the nearby gate lodge.
