Description

The Kennels and The Kennels Cottage, along with adjoining barns, are two houses and barns that were formerly known as Beech Cottages. The Kennels features an inscription over the barn entrance reading "R. & I.R. 1682" and another over the house entrance stating "R. & E.R. 1697", with 20th-century additions and alterations. The Kennels Cottage dates back to the early 18th century. The buildings have whitewashed and rendered sandstone rubble walls, a Welsh slate roof, and corrugated asbestos on the barn to the left.

The Kennels Cottage is two storeys high with three bays and a lower barn to the left. It has a 20th-century plank door and sash windows with glazing bars, all set in painted stone surrounds. There is a ground floor 20th-century casement window to the right of the entrance. The barn has a blank front wall with a lower shippon. The Kennels shares a common roof with the barn of The Kennels Cottage; it is also two storeys and three bays, with an angled barn to the left under the shared roof.

The cross passage entrance of The Kennels has a heavily moulded surround with a shaped lintel, which has been cut away to provide better headroom. The 20th-century casement windows are in 20th-century surrounds but remain within the original openings. The rear of The Kennels has a 20th-century extension. The barn features a similar entrance with a dated shaped lintel and a sash window to the right in a painted stone surround, with a shippon to the left. The rear of the barn has a large cart entrance.
