Description

The gate piers south-east of Workington Hall were built in the late 18th century for the Curwen family. They are made of calciferous sandstone ashlar and feature square piers topped with armorial carved stone unicorn heads, which are the crests of the Curwen family. The flanking wall has been rebuilt and is not of interest. These gate piers are listed for their group value with Workington Hall.
