Description
The walls, railings, gates, and gate piers to the west of Knells Lodge were built in 1824, the same year as the house. They are made of calciferous sandstone and iron. The structure features four square columns with recessed vertical panels and pointed caps, connected by semicircular ashlar walls that have chamfered coping. There are cast-iron lamp brackets on the gate pillars, along with cast-iron patterned gates and low wrought-iron spiked railings situated between the pillars. The wall and spear iron railings extend to the east and west for about 50 meters, ending in hexagonal stone columns. This structure is included partly for its group value with the adjoining lodge.
