Description
Fernleigh House and the adjoining former barn/stables date from the late 18th century, with an early 19th-century extension. The house features painted stucco walls, an eaves cornice, and V-jointed quoins set on a chamfered plinth. It has a graduated greenslate roof with coped gables. The barn/stables are constructed from calcareous sandstone rubble and also have a graduated greenslate roof, complemented by brick chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high with three bays, and includes a two-bay left extension under a common roof, along with the lower barn/stables. The house has a panelled door framed in painted stone, topped by a shell hood. Sash windows with glazing bars are set in painted stone surrounds. The barn/stables feature a pent extension with large double plank doors. A smaller left gabled extension has a plank door in a plain stone surround, flanked by plain boarded doors.
