Description

Nos. 33 and 35 Market Place are a pair of stone buildings dating to the early 19th century, situated opposite Percy House and facing the central axis of Castlegate. They feature a moulded cornice and pilaster strips. The buildings are three storeys high. The central doorway is flanked by two attached Greek half-columns supporting a frieze and cornice, above which is a panelled door and fanlight. Two Victorian shop fronts are present. The first floor contains four 12-pane sash windows, and the top floor has four 9-pane sash windows. The listed buildings in Market Place form a group value context with Kirkgate Corner and St Helen's Street.
