Description

The Old Courthouse is a 2-story building constructed of stone ashlar, dating to an unknown period. It has a modillioned cornice and a hipped roof. A central flight of steps leads to a 4-centred arched entrance with iron railings and gates. Flanking the entrance are Tudor-arched windows, and above these are three rectangular windows, all with labels. The return side facing the River Cocker has two long windows also with labels. A higher, 3-story rear wing is present. The building forms a group with numbers 4, 12 to 28 (even) on Main Street.
