Description
The footbridge at Aspatria Station is a cast-iron structure likely built in the 1870s by George Smith & Co for the Maryport & Carlisle Railway. It features a standard design that spans double railway tracks. The steps and overbridge are adorned with lattice rails supported by square posts topped with ball finials. The overbridge is held up by cast-iron fluted columns that have Corinthian capitals. Additionally, there are cast lamp brackets at the top of each side of the steps, which have twist-patterned stems, although the lamp fittings have been removed.
