Description

This is a dovecote located approximately 27 metres east of The Dovecote in Harlestone, likely dating from the 16th century. It is constructed of squared coursed lias and features a stone slate roof. The dovecote is circular with battered sides and a conical roof, which is topped by a glazed lantern with a finial. There is a moulded stone string course and cornice. The entrance is a single plank door with a stone lintel. The structure was probably restored in the 19th century. Inside, there are approximately 400 nesting boxes and a loft accessed by a ladder.
