Description

The Dovecote is a house dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed lias stone with a plain tiled roof. The house follows a two-unit lobby entry plan and is two storeys high with an attic. It has a two-window front elevation, featuring a central entrance with a plank and braced door beneath a 19th-century rustic porch. Two-light stone mullioned windows with single casements in stone surrounds, all with leaded lights, flank the entrance to the left and right. Ashlar gable parapets, kneelers, and brick stacks are located at the ridge and end of the building. The rear elevation is similar, also featuring stone mullioned windows. The interior includes a dogleg staircase and the remains of a central open fireplace in the left-hand room. The building was formerly used as a public house.
