Description

Nos. 43-46 are a row of estate cottages built in 1874 by E.F. Law for the Compton Estate. They are constructed from coursed squared limestone and feature a pantile roof with a stone ridge stack. The cottages have a 4-unit double-depth plan and present a picturesque composition. The building is two stories high and has a seven-window range. To the left of the center is a shallow gabled wing, with a catslide roof extending over the porches of Nos. 44 and 45. The door to No. 46 is located at the far left, while the door to No. 43 is on the right side elevation; both doors are plank doors with chamfered stone surrounds. The windows include 1-, 2-, and 3-light ovolo-moulded stone mullions. There is a gabled dormer to the right of center, and the gables are stone-coped with kneelers. A datestone is located on the gable of the projecting wing.
