Description

The Church of All Saints has medieval origins, with fragments of an earlier church surviving in the tower after the great fire, and a 14th-century crypt. It was rebuilt in 1680 to the design of Henry Jones of Northampton. The church features a chancel and chapels, a square nave topped with a cupola on a dome, and a cross of segmental vaults supported by four Ionic columns on pedestals. The western tower includes a lantern and a wide portico with eight columns, completed in 1701. Inside, there are ornate plaster ceilings and a Corporation Pew dated 1680, along with a font and 18th and 19th-century wall monuments. A statue of Charles II, created in 1712 by John Hunt, stands on the portico. The top part of the 14th-century tower was refaced in 1928.
