Description
43, 44, and 45 Lower Harlestone are three houses built in 1851 by E. Blore. They are constructed from squared coursed lias with ashlar dressings and have a plain tiled roof. Each house is two stories high and consists of two units, forming an L-plan. The front features a three-window range of casements with ashlar surrounds and cast iron diamond panes. There are two entrances between the windows at the front and one entrance to the side, all with four-centred heads and ribbed doors. The end bays project forward with gables, and the center window has a false dormer. Rebuilt brick stacks are located at both ends. The datestone displays the Spencer Arms in the flanking gables. This building is part of a planned layout of ten houses and accompanying wash houses. The interiors have not been inspected.
