Description
The Hall Flats are former stables that have been converted into flats, dating from the early 18th century. The building is constructed of lias ashlar and features a thatched roof. It has an E-plan layout and stands two storeys high with a three-window range. The entrance is located in a central projection and has an arched head with a keystone. A plank door leads into a central passage that provides access to the stable yard at the rear.
On the ground floor, there are three-light stone mullioned windows with leaded lights on either side of the entrance, as well as on the ground and first floors of the projecting wings. Above the entrance, there is a vertical oval window with an ashlar surround and leaded lights. The building is adorned with ashlar gable parapets and kneelers on all gables, and it features a central ashlar stack. There is also evidence of a former carriage entrance to the right of the main entrance. The Hall Flats were originally part of the stable block for East Haddon Hall.
