Description
The building is a dovecote, dated 1684, with a 19th-century extension. It is constructed from coursed squared limestone and features a half-hipped plain-tile roof. The structure is single-storey with a central round-arched doorway that has red brick jambs, a keyblock, and a boarded head, likely added around 1800. On either side of the doorway are 1-light casement windows with wooden lintels. Higher up, there are square blocked 1-light windows with ironstone jambs and wooden lintels. Above the door is an ironstone datestone inscribed with "A/FF/1684." The roof is adorned with ornamental tile ridges and has a central square timber glover topped with a pyramidal slate roof. Attached to the dovecote are single-storey red brick stable wings, likely built in the mid to late 19th century, which project from either end. These wings feature stable doors and windows above with segmental arched heads. The interior of the main block is subdivided horizontally but still retains its roostings.
