Description
The pool and fountain head on the lower garden terrace dates from the mid-19th century and is made of limestone. It features a rectangular moulded stone kerb with low stone piers. The central fountain head has a trumpet-shaped bowl supported by large carved volutes and scallops at the corners on a cruciform base, along with a moulded stone plinth. Nymphs are depicted seated on the volutes, with one nymph raising an arm in the center of the bowl. This structure was removed around 1900 from Harefield Hall and is said to have been transported to its current location stone by stone via barges along the Grand Union Canal.
