Description
Palm Tree Cottage is a late 19th-century house, originally a farmhouse, altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with flared headers, and has an old plain-tile roof, brick ridge stacks and end stacks. The house has a three-unit plan and two storeys with an attic; the front has a four-window range. A 20th-century door is located to the left of centre and has a chamfered wood surround and wood lintel. The ground floor has three-light leaded casement windows with segmental-arched heads, while the first floor windows are also three-light casements but have brick-on-end arches. Some old crown glass panes are present in the first-floor casements. A storey band and corbelled brick eaves are also present. There are 20th-century single-storey extensions to the left and to the rear. The back and side walls are of coursed ironstone rubble. Internally, the house features chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
