Description

Doddridge United Reformed Church, formerly known as the Congregational Church, was founded in 1662 and built in 1695, with enlargements made in 1852 and 1890. The church features a sundial on the south wall with the inscription: "Post est occasio calva, 1695." It is constructed of sandstone ashlar and has a hipped roof covered with Welsh slate. The building has two rows of windows with 19th-century glazing. The south antechapel was added in 1890, and the interior is galleried. This church is included in the listing for its historical significance as the earliest surviving Nonconformist chapel in Northampton. A notable feature is the monument to Philip Doddridge, created in 1751 by John Hunt.
