Description
The Baptist Church, built in 1863 by William Hall, features a Neo-classical design with an impressive ashlar front and a Corinthian portico. The building has two storeys, with a rusticated ground floor supported by pilasters. There are three doorways, and the first floor showcases a giant Corinthian order with angle pilasters and a central pedimented portico supported by six columns, with the inner pair being single and the outer pair double. The façade includes five stone mullion three-light windows with panelled aprons, and cornices at lintel level beneath arched panels that have keystones. The church is topped with a parapet. The side walls are made of coursed rubble and feature buttresses between seven windows, which have glazing bars. The ground floor windows have flat arches, while those on the first floor have round arches.
