Description

Nos. 73 and 74 are a house dating from the mid-17th century, constructed of squared coursed lias with a thatched roof. The building has a three-unit plan and is two storeys high with an attic. It features a three-window range of two-light stone mullions with leaded lights. There are two entrances, each with four-centred heads and plank and braced doors. The 19th-century dormers have mock timbering and pebble dashed panels. The gabled roof includes ashlar gable parapets and kneelers, with brick stacks at the ridge and ends. The rear is similar, with a four-light oriel window on the first floor of No. 74. There is a 19th-century one-bay extension to the east. Inside, there is an open fireplace in the right room of No. 74. This building is reputed to have been a home of the Washington family.
