Description

The Waggon and Horses Public House is an early 17th-century building, with later alterations, located at 96 West Street. It is an L-shaped structure with stone slate roofs. The eastern end (number 96) is a lower section featuring two 5-light mullioned windows on the first floor and one on the ground floor; the ground floor window has lost its mullions. A plain doorway is present, and there are pigeon loft openings in the east gable. The main part of the public house, situated on the corner, dates to the later 19th century and is slightly elevated compared to the two wings. The south wing, facing Mill Road, has two 5-light mullioned windows on both the ground and first floors. The Waggon and Horses Public House, together with number 96, forms a group with the Holy Name of Jesus Church.
