Description
The gates, gateways, balustrade, and seat are located approximately 50 meters northeast, east, and south of Lilford Hall. They were constructed in the mid-19th century by W.G. Habershon of St. Neots. The structure is made of limestone ashlar and features cast-iron gates. The balustrade is arched and has a lattice design, supported by rusticated square piers, some of which have ball finials. This balustrade encloses a formal garden to the east of Lilford Hall. The center of the eastern section of the balustrade protrudes forward and is flanked by two pairs of gates that also project forward. The northern section of the balustrade includes an attached stone seat, while the southern section has a part that extends at right angles between the formal garden and the forecourt. Additionally, the balustrade is part of the forecourt along with a gate arch, walls, and balustrade connected to the southwest of Lilford Hall, as well as a gate arch, seat niche, walls, balustrade, and terrace walls linked to the southeast of Lilford Hall. There is also a balustrade located approximately 30 meters south and southwest of Lilford Hall.
