Description
Nos 22 and 24 on West Street are a late 18th-century building that is stone-faced and has two storeys. The first floor features five windows arranged in a 3:2 pattern. The ground floor includes a doorway at the eastern end, a shop window created by enlarging and combining two windows, a carriageway, and another window. The windows are hung sashes set in moulded wooden cases with plain architraves that have keystones. The house doorway at the eastern end has a similar architrave.
The main section of No 24 is an early 18th-century house that stands three storeys high and is constructed of coursed rubble, with a parapet that screens the roof. It has five windows on both the first and second floors, also arranged in a 3:2 pattern, featuring hung sashes, some of which are early with heavy glazing bars. These windows are set in moulded wooden cases with shallow reveals and plain stone surrounds that include keystones. There is a plain low doorway at the western end with a matching architrave and a plinth. A rainwater head dated 1715 is present. There has been modern work done to the rear of the building.
Nos 2 to 36 (even), 42 to 46A (even), and 52 to 98 (even) form a group with these buildings.
