Description

Wood Cottage is a house dating to the 17th century, located on the west side of Kings Cliff Road in Apethorpe. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and has a thatched roof. The house has a T-shaped plan and appears as a single-storey building with an attic. The main front has a two-window range, with a gable cross-wing projecting to the left. It contains leaded casement windows under wooden lintels; a first-floor window on the right is positioned beneath eyebrow dormers. A central entrance features a six-panel, part-glazed door set under a wooden lintel, with a rustic porch. Stone and brick stacks are present, the stone stack being at the apex of the cross-wing and the brick stack at the end of the building. The interior was noted to contain remains of an open fireplace, though it has not been inspected.
