Description

These are three houses located on Main Road, Grendon. They were likely built in the late 17th century, with a datestone indicating 1733. The houses are constructed of regular coursed limestone and have thatched roofs. Each house follows a two-unit plan, and together they form a six-window facade. The windows are casements with glazing bars. Windows at numbers 56 and 58 are topped with wooden lintels, while number 54 has flat stone arches above the windows. 20th-century plank doors are set between the windows, sheltered by wooden hoods. Number 54 has higher eaves, ashlar gable parapets with kneelers, and a datestone positioned above the door. Brick stacks are located at the ridge and ends of the building. The interior of the houses was not inspected, but number 54 is noted to have remains of an open fireplace.
