Description
Chancel Cottage is a building that was originally two houses, now combined into one dwelling. It dates from the late 17th century and the mid-19th century. The structure is built of regularly coursed limestone and features thatch and slate roofs. It has a single-storey layout with an attic and was originally designed with a two-unit plan.
The main front has two bays, with a one-window range that includes a casement window with glazing bars and a wooden lintel to the right, and a similar casement window beneath an eyebrow dormer in the attic above. There is a central 20th-century door also under a wooden lintel, and a central brick chimney stack. The left gable features two casement windows, again under wooden lintels.
Attached to the right is a mid-19th-century two-storey section with a two-window range of casements, which was originally a separate house but now forms part of the same dwelling. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to have spine beams. The building is included for its group value.
