Description
The Salvation Army Citadel is a late 19th-century building designed in an original variant of the Jacobean style by J A Gotch. It is constructed of stone-dressed red brick and features a gabled roof covered with Welsh slate, topped by a conical roof on a central octagonal bellcote. The building has tall stone mullioned and transomed windows, which are round arched on the west and the center of the south fronts. There is an arcaded porch on the southwest side with a panelled parapet, and the corners of the building are accentuated by octagonal angle buttresses topped with ball finials.
