Description

Chesham House is a later 18th century house with a stucco front and a Welsh slate roof. It has three storeys, featuring a stone cornice moulding and stone coped gables on the side elevations. The front has three sash windows with glazing bars and keystones, along with a modern bay window on the ground floor. The entrance boasts a four-panelled door set in a surround with engaged columns, an entablature decorated with swags and urns, and an open pediment above a rectangular traceried fanlight. This building was the home of John Cooper Gotch, who founded the shoe industry in Kettering and died in 1852.
