Description

South Lodge Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse situated on Ecton Road. It bears a datestone reading FES/1896, relating to the Ecton Hall Estate. The farmhouse is constructed of squared coursed lias stone, with a plain-tile roof. It follows a T-shaped plan, and is two storeys high with an attic. The front facade has a three-window arrangement of 20th-century casements, set within original openings and under wooden lintels. A 19th-century wooden porch, with a part-glazed door, is located to the right of the centre. A single-window range on the far left was likely added in the 19th century. The roof features eaves dormers, ashlar gable parapets and kneelers, and brick stacks at the ridge and end. A similar 18th-century wing projects to the rear, with a single-storey extension to the right, also bearing a datestone. The interior was not inspected.
