Description

Newton Cottage is a Grade II listed building that, along with No. 31, forms part of a row of two houses. The buildings date from the early 18th century and mid 19th century. They are constructed from regularly coursed limestone and topped with a thatch roof. Each house has a two-unit plan and features a mix of single-storey with attics and two-storey sections, creating a total of four window openings across the front.

No. 31 includes two 19th-century canted bay windows, while Newton Cottage has two 19th-century casement windows set under wooden lintels. The attic of Newton Cottage features five similar casements, with three located under eyebrow dormers and two under wooden lintels just below the eaves. No. 31 has a 19th-century four-panel door situated between the windows, and Newton Cottage has a 20th-century door, both of which are placed under wooden lintels and have flat hoods above. There is a blocked door on the far right of Newton Cottage that has been replaced with a 20th-century casement. Both buildings have brick stacks at the ridge and end. The interiors have not been inspected.
