Description

The gate arch, seat niche, walls, balustrade, and terrace walls are located to the southeast of Lilford Hall and were built in the mid-19th century by W.G. Habershon of St. Neots. Constructed from limestone ashlar, the gate arch on the left is designed in the Jacobean style, featuring an arch-head opening flanked by columns that support an entablature with a bracketed cornice. Above the arch is a decorative device with scrolls and a finial. The flanking walls are rusticated and have an open arched parapet.

To the right of the gate arch is a seat niche that mirrors the gate arch's design but includes a curved back and seat with a shell hood. The flanking walls of the seat niche are also rusticated. The gate arch and seat niche are connected by terrace walls that include a central flight of steps. This structure was originally part of the formal garden layout to the east of Lilford Hall. The gate arch forms a pair with another gate arch and is part of the forecourt that includes walls and a balustrade attached to the southwest of Lilford Hall. The balustrade is approximately 30 meters southwest of Lilford Hall, while the gates, gateways, balustrade, and seat are located about 50 meters to the northeast, east, and south of Lilford Hall.
