Description

Two houses, numbers 23 and 25-26, are located on Main Street in Sudborough. They were originally built in the early and mid-18th century, and later restored in the 20th century. The houses are constructed from squared and regular coursed limestone, and have thatched roofs. Number 23 has a two-unit plan and is two storeys high, while numbers 25 and 26 have a single-storey plan with an attic. The front has a four-window arrangement of 19th-century casement windows under wooden lintels. Similar casement windows are set within irregular eyebrow dormers on the first floor. Two 20th-century doors are set between window ranges, each protected by a gabled porch. Brick stacks are located on the ridge and at the end of number 23. Number 25-26 features a 20th-century thatched wing to the rear. The interior of number 23 includes open fireplaces, now blocked, and stop-chamfered ceiling beams with run-out stops.
