Description
The Old Vicarage is an early 19th-century building located on the northeast side of High Street. It has three storeys and a cellar, constructed from brick with moulded flat eaves and a slate roof. The front of the building features three bays, with windows that decrease in size as they rise. Although there are no glazing bars, all windows have fretted sunblind pelmets. The ground floor has a modern shop front designed in a suitable style, which includes a large but shallow multi-panel bay and a modern panelled door on the far left. In front of the shop front, there is a small porch supported by two plain columns and an entablature that connects to the shop front. A modern sign in a wrought iron projecting frame is also present. The Old Vicarage is part of a group that includes Nos 41 to 49 (odd) and the Chequers Hotel.
