Description
Denham Lodge is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century, which was restored and extended in the 1970s. The main block is constructed of dressed stone, featuring a projecting plinth and a first-floor band course. The projecting end bays are made of thin brick, with a similar plinth and band. The roof is covered with old tiles and is hipped over the projections, while the chimneys at the rear are made of thin brick. The house has two storeys and an attic, with a total of seven bays. The 20th-century leaded cross casements are present throughout, and the central section has hipped dormers with paired leaded casements, of which only two are original; the rest are from the 20th century. A central half-glazed door is topped with a rectangular leaded fanlight. The gable ends feature segmental-headed openings, with the right gable having been significantly rebuilt. There is a 20th-century parallel range at the rear, made of old brick with a tiled roof and similar casements. The interior has little of interest. The house is highly regarded for its moated site, which includes a gatehouse.
