Description

Nos 27 and 29 Whielden Street are an early 18th-century refronting of a medieval building in Amersham. They are constructed of red and grey brick, with a hipped roof covered in old tiles, a central brick chimney, and a coved cornice. The buildings are two storeys high, with a first-floor band emphasizing No. 29. No. 27 has a half-glazed door with a small, bracketed hood, a two-light casement window with a plain head on the right, and a three-light casement with a segmental arch on the left. No. 29 has a four-panelled door with an architrave and hood, and a three-light casement with a segmental arch on the right. Exposed timber framing is visible in the right-hand wall, the flank wall, and the rear elevation. Inside, a crown post truss is present in the left-hand cross wing.
