Description
No. 23 Bridge Street is a building that originally dates back to the late 17th century but was refronted in the early to mid-19th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The front is rendered and features incised masonry patterns, with a plain-tile roof and brick end stacks. The building has a two-unit plan and is two stories high with a three-window range.
The central entrance consists of a double-leaf glazed door framed by a pilastered wood surround, leading into a lobby with doors to shops on either side. The shop fronts date from the 19th century but have been altered in the 20th century, with pilasters on either side and a continuous moulded cornice hood above. The first floor has horned plate-glass sash windows with segmental-arched heads. The left end of the building features rusticated quoins.
