Description
Old Jordans Hostel is an 18th-century building with a wing at right angles designed by Fred Rowntree around 1920. It features a red brick exterior and a hipped old tile roof with dentilled eaves. The building is two storeys tall, with the south front displaying box sash windows in four bays, and a cross-casement window in the right-hand bay on the ground floor. The door is located in the third bay. The west elevation has first-floor casements and a central six-panel door set in a round-headed arch with an inner arch. The first floor has casements, with triple windows in the outer bays and paired windows in the central bay. There is a modern two-storey wing with dormers and a casement window. A tiled porch in the re-entrant angle is supported by fluted half-columns. This building was originally a farmhouse owned by William Russell, a prominent Quaker, in the 17th century and was used for meetings.
